ATP Application Process

Tuition Adjustment: Here's How it Works

The Accessible Tuition Program supports families with a demonstrated financial need to cover part of the cost of tuition to a maximum of 70% of the base tuition fee. Families are eligible to apply for a tuition adjustment for any full-time students in Kindergarten through Grade Eight. Tuition adjustments are not available for Licensed Childcare programs and part-time Kindergarten programs.

Families qualifying for and receiving tuition adjustment must re-apply every year.

How to Apply

  1. Check the box ‘I will be applying for a fee adjustment…’ on your Tuition Agreement.
  2. You will be given access to the online application.
  3. Complete and submit the following:                                                                                                                                                                                             a) A budget worksheet for your household, provided by the business office
(information regarding assets, debts, income & expenses is required).                                                                                                                           b) The following supporting financial documents including, but not limited to:
      • 2 recent paystub(s)
      • Canada Child Tax Benefit, GST/HST Benefit and Ontario Trillium
      • Benefit data
      • Notice of Assessment for the most recent tax period
      • For self-employed individuals: full tax return for the most recent tax period
  4. Once the required documentation has been submitted, a conversation will be scheduled. You will be meeting with two members of our ATP Committee.

  5. The conversation may result in adjusted tuition fees. In this case, you will be required to sign an amendment to your original Tuition Agreement.

Please note: While the school is committed to stretching to meet the needs of families, families must also be committed to stretching to meet the needs of the school. ATP Conversationalists will be looking to see how you are stretching and prioritizing Waldorf Education in your budget and financial planning.

New Families

  • Tuition for full-time Kindergarten through Grade Eight students may be adjusted up to a maximum of 70% of the base tuition fee.
  • Admission decisions and tuition adjustment decisions are independent of each other.
  • New families are eligible to apply upon acceptance. For more information regarding how to start an application, please refer to our Admissions Process.

Returning Families

  • Tuition for full-time Kindergarten through Grade Eight students may be adjusted up to a maximum of 70% of the base tuition fee. *Exceptions may be granted for families with extenuating circumstances.

Deadlines

  • New families must submit their ATP application by the provided deadline of 15 calendar days after receiving the application.                                           NOTE: If an ATP application is submitted after June 15th, we are not able to guarantee that the process will be complete before the first day of         school. Families must have paid the registration fee, had their conversation, and signed an Amendment to their tuition agreement before their           child is registered and attends school.
  • Returning families must submit their ATP application by the last day of February.
  • Missing any of the above deadlines could cause a delay in conversation scheduling, and may result in an extended process affecting the expected start date for students.
  • Any requests for an adjustment received after the above deadlines will be treated as mid-year adjustments and will only be considered if submitted prior to December 31.

Confidentiality

The ATP Committee has developed a confidentiality policy that is reviewed regularly. The Business Office and members of the ATP Committee undertake to keep all information, including the fact that you have applied, in the strictest confidence. Please note that we
require that you keep the details of your tuition conversation and the resulting adjustment in the strictest confidence as well.

Appeals

If a family has a concern regarding their ATP experience, they should contact an ATP Liaison. If the liaison cannot resolve the concern the family may contact the ATP Chair. If a resolution
cannot be found between the ATP committee and the family, an Appeal Letter can be sent to the Board of Trustees.

Donations & ATP

From time to time, families may be able to contribute more than their adjusted monthly payment without requiring a new ATP conversation. Donations to the school are most welcome, however government regulations prevent us from issuing a charitable tax receipt until the full tuition fee has been paid.
