COVID-19

A healthy social life is found

When in the mirror of each human soul,

The whole community finds its reflection,

And when in the community,

The virtue of each one is living.

Welcome to our returning families, new families, faculty, Board members, and parents who are joining a school community for the first time. Welcome, all of you, and all the unique gifts you are bringing to our community. We are grateful for your presence. We are here together, united in the purpose of creating this space and time for our children to learn and grow and to develop, each in their own unique way, but together. One of the hallmarks of our school, and of Waldorf education, is community.  More than ever we wish for unity in our community, despite all of the circumstances we are dealing with in this current moment.

The Values that Guide Us

As Waldorf educators…

We understand:

  • That children thrive in a school environment where their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth is fostered and supported and that Waldorf education is uniquely qualified to provide this.
  • That school provides the childcare, rhythm, and critical services parents and caregivers need in order to return to work.

We are committed to:

  • Ensuring a quality education for all students whether we are able to operate on or off-campus.
  • Taking prudent steps to minimize the risk of transmission of COVID-19 among students, faculty, and staff and to promote good health.

We have a responsibility to:

  • Engage in practices that support the health and well-being of the larger community.

And we are working from an assumption that:

  • Our children benefit from a full Waldorf curriculum – a developmentally appropriate art and movement-filled academic curriculum that meets them, body, mind, and spirit

As a school, we are required to implement all of the health and safety regulations that are required for the safe operation of schools during the pandemic by both the Middlesex London Health Unit and the Ministry of Education. Our goal is to be able to do this all while working within our Waldorf values and retaining the warmth and authenticity of our programs. We are fortunate to be full members of both the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) and the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (WECAN) and are fortunate that our membership facilitates the sharing of experience and wisdom between our fellow Waldorf educators all over the continent.
